Vote NO on Amendment 6

Abolish Abortion Missouri encourages Missouri voters to vote No on Amendment 6.

Amendment 6 would require at least 80% of both the House and Senate to refer any change to a prior voter-approved initiative back to the voters. Its look-back reaches to January 1, 2010, so the rule would apply to every initiative enacted since then—including the 2024 reproductive-freedom amendment.

In practical terms, that means only 21% of one chamber can overrule 79%. 7 senators or 33 House members would permanently block any future legislative attempt to remove or replace language voters have already approved. If Amendment 6 passes, the 2024 reproductive-freedom amendment would be locked behind that barrier. Any later effort to remove it and replace it with true personhood or equal-protection language—defining the unborn child as a person from conception—would need 80% approval in both chambers just to reach the ballot again.

A No vote on Amendment 6 keeps the ordinary majority path open for a future personhood amendment that would remove the 2024 language, while the citizen-initiative process remains available as well.

Our goal is the abolition of abortion through equal protection of the laws for every human being from the moment of conception. Locking the 2024 language under an 80% rule makes that goal significantly harder. A No on Amendment 6 preserves the flexibility needed.
