Why Criminalize Women?
Why would Abolitionists want to criminalize women? The short answer is, we don’t. Abolitionists seek to establish justice. Exodus 23:7 says:
“Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not aquit the guilty”
But it’s a great way for dishonest folks to throw dirt on an abolition bill. Think about it, criminalizing women sounds pretty bad. The very term conjures up images of pregnant women being thrown into prison for the crime of “being female.” Who’s language is that anyway? Did that come from Planned Parenthood or what??? Abolition bills are clearly and decisively calling for equal protection for all people. This doesn’t “criminalize women.” This criminalizes the act of abortion. It is the primary agent behind the act that would be subject to punishment.
Imagine living in a society where a person who has, in malice and forethought, carried out a plan to kill their neighbor and, after doing so – was presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, where they are provided with legal representation, due process and a jury of their peers. Oh, that’s right – we do. Abolitionists seek to apply these same protections to all humans. Born and pre-born. Consistent with our Constitution. Because all humans are created in the image of God.
Advocates of granting immunity to women who procure abortions show partiality in judgment. After 50 years of child sacrifice, it’s no surprise an entire culture would be a little skewed on this. That’s why we must return to God’s word on the matter:
“Do not show partiality in judging…” – Deuteronomy 1:17
“Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees. And writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!” – Isaiah 10:1-3
When a woman who has procured an abortion believes she is the victim, she sees no need to repent and forfeits the opportunity for grace and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Do not be deceived, this is neither justice nor mercy. This is suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. See Romans 1:18-32. The fruit of this is evident in a generation of hardened, bitter, insolent, haughty women who openly spew slander, hatred and filth from their mouths in the streets.
We see this today because we failed to establish justice 50 years ago. No one should be granted authority to destroy an innocent human being, regardless of their relationship, sex, occupation, race, religion, income, license or any other factor.
Today is a good day to repent and obey God.
