We’re back with the first Weekly Legislative Update of 2026 of the AAMO Podcast!

Hosted by Adam “Ray Ray” Cochrun, Wes reports from Jefferson City during the Second Regular Session of the 103rd Missouri General Assembly. The session began January 2, and we are now three weeks in.

There are four abolition measures currently filed—two resolutions and two bills in both chambers—authored by Sen. Mike Moon and Rep. Burt Whayley. None of the resolutions have moved. One bill has not moved, and the Senate Equal Protection bill (SB 951) has been assigned to an inappropriate committee chaired by Sen. Justin Brown.

This stalling requires immediate and sustained citizen action.

Call to Action – Call Every Day

  1. Call House Speaker Jon Patterson and ask him to assign HJR 109 and HB 1682 to a committee for a hearing.

  3. Call Senator Justin Brown and ask him to give SB 951 a hearing date and to support the bill.

Ask to speak directly with the legislator. If unavailable, request a return call. Tell staff you will call every day until the bills and resolutions move or the legislator personally calls back.

Persistent, faithful pressure is necessary for abolition to advance.
