Amendment 3 does not ban transgender surgery

Proponents of Amendment 3, including A.G. Hanaway, Senator Adam Schnelting, and a host of ads, are making claims that the statutory ban on transgender surgery on minors will sunset in 2027.
I believe they are gravely mistaken.
The sunset applies to drugs, NOT surgery.
The SAFE Act was 2023 SB 49 (Mike Moon). Note that the clause “(3) The provisions of this subsection shall expire on August 28, 2027.” ONLY applies to the “cross-sex hormones or puberty blocking drugs”
That’s 191.1720.4(3). [Section 4, subdivision 3.]
The subsection BEFORE subsection 4 reads, “3. A health care provider shall not knowingly perform a gender transition surgery on any individual under eighteen years of age.”
What’s more, (and the thing that made the sunset compromise acceptable to us at the time) is the fact that the private cause of action does NOT sunset, even for damage caused by the drugs.
As we suspected would be the case, the “providers” turned out to be afraid of being sued years after ruining young people’s lives and that was enough deterrent to get them out of the business.
For credibility sake, I suggest that Senator Schnelting, and any others making inaccurate claims about this, retract their statements
